What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial Massage is a scientific, yet holistic method of manipulating the soft tissues of the body to have a specific effect and help restore healthy function. When muscles have become tense, damaged or have developed “knots”, Remedial Massage can provide a healing treatment through the use a number of different techniques including deep tissue massage, myofacial release, trigger point therapy and stretching, to name just a few.
Remedial Massage works by stimulating the flow of blood to the tissues, which allows toxins that have built up in the muscles due to overuse or injury to be removed, thus speeding up the repair process. It also improves joint moblility and flexibility through the release of specific muscle groups that may be impinging normal range of motion.
Remedial Massage Therapists endeavour to identify the original biomechanical dysfunction, thus treating the source of the dysfunction and not just the symptoms. It is therefore useful in treating a number of different conditions from postural misalignment to chronic headaches.
